Ohio Chautauqua. Ohio Chautauqua is a collaborative effort of The Ohio State University's Humanities Institute and the Ohio Humanities Council. In the modern revival of chautauqua (an early twentieth century phenomenon which was especially popular throughout the midwest), trained scholars assume the costume and character of historical figures, presenting exciting living history performances beneath an old-fashioned chautauqua tent. Like the chautauqua of nearly 100 years ago, the Ohio Chautauqua will be an occasion for families, friends, and members of the community to come together in an environment conducive to thought and learning.
