Ohio City Cleveland

Why I Love Ohio City

Some people like the city, some don’t.  The best thing about city living is the diverse cast of characters with whom you live, work, interact and pass by on the street.  City living is like making soup out of the leftovers in your refrigerator—you are never sure how the mixture of all the disparate ingredients will turn out but it sure is fun mixing them together.

Ohio City is an especially diverse neighborhood on the west bank of the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio.

Originally home to Irish and German immigrants, Ohio City today is today home to more than 15 ethnic groups representing more than 10,000 people. Chock-full of historic homes and commercial buildings, new condos and townhouses, unique shops and some of the area’s hottest restaurants and nightspots, Ohio City is the premier neighborhood in the city of Cleveland.

I’ve never enjoyed being in the majority.  There is something grittily satisfying about blending into a group of people who don’t blend in.  It sure makes for a more interesting pot of soup.

And that is why I like living in Ohio City.
